I learned many things about English in this semester. Writing is my favorite subject in the past three months, because I like write stories. I think reading is the most difficult part for me, most of time I can’t read very fast, and it is hard to understand every word’s meaning. After this semester I will go back to Taiwan, and I will come back at January second for my next semester in MEI.

The Five People You Meet in Heaven is my first time read novel in English. This is an interesting novel, but I need to spend a lot of time to understand what it want to say, because it is hard for me to read an English story. I like reading but most of the time I will choose the Chinese novel. I think listening to the story in class is better then reading alone, because that can help me gat focused on the story.

I have been living in the United States for one and half month. Now, I miss my family, my girlfriend, my cat and my bed. Everything in the United States is so expensive. The price of cigarette in here is twice in Taiwan. I have smoked for more than 12 years, so that become a big problem for me.

This weekend I moved from my brother’s house to Seven Springs. That is first time I living along in the United States. I bought a lout of microwave foods and beers. Living along is more convenience than live with my brother. Because when I was liveing in his house, I could’t smoking in the room. Now, I can smoking any time I want. I know somebody will say smoking is not good for your health. But, an unfortunate is I can’t quit it.

This was my first month to MEI, and I have been here three weeks. I like my teacher Nina because she is a kind person. She always care about our learning and the foods we eating. The way she taught us is very different in my country.

I ate lunch at the Dairy with my teacher and five classmates. It was my first time to eat at the Dairy. I had a chicken wrap because I like chicken. Since I came to MEI, I have eaten at McDonald's every day, so I thought it was time for a change. During lunch we talked about where we live. That helped us to get to know each other better.

My name is Hsin-Hong Lin. I come from Taiwan, which is a small country. My brother is living in MD and working here. My parents are in Taiwan. My other brother and elder sister are both married. I studied economics at university when I was in Taiwan. I like driving but I don’t have a driver’s license in the United States. When I was in the military, I was a V-150 driver. That was interesting because the V-150 is like a tank, but not exactly. Now, I play video games every day.

I came to the United States because my father wants me to be here. He wants me to come here to study English because he does business with Europeans and he wants me to help him with that. The other reason is that my father wants me to change my lifestyle.
